Israel’s army chief: Terrorists taking root in Syria pose new peril
Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz warned Wednesday: “Alongside the potential nuclear threat from Iran and spiraling Hizballah war capabilities in Lebanon, we hear that Assad while butchering his people is also losing control of his country and terrorist networks such as international jihadists are moving in.” He went on to say, “On the Golan we have to contend with the usual military dangers, but now also those terrorists, although we are armed with ample resources for dealing with them.” The IDF later discovered a group of Syrians gathering on the Syrian-Israel border on Mt. Hermon, some of them armed. Israel military patrols are keeping an eye on their movements. Israel civilians were moved out of range as a precaution.
