Israel’s covid death toll crosses 3,000 mark

The number of coronavirus deaths has climbed to 3,003 since the first coronavirus outbreak in March. The Health Ministry also reported 1,710 new cases on Sunday, with 3.4pc of nearly 50,000 tests showing positive, 383 in serious condition and 100 on ventilators. Amid a steady climb in morbidity figures, confirmed cases have climbed to a daily average of 1,758 in the last seven days. Health experts offer the view that there is no way of avoiding new restrictions at the end of the month.
