Israel’s daily coronavirus infection rate exceeds 2,000
Since Thursday, another 2,068 people registered coronavirus positive boosting the total to 111,493. They include 426 in serious condition of whom 118 are on ventilators. The second two figures have stayed more or less steady for a week. The number of deaths rose by three to 891 on Friday morning. On Thursday, 36,000 covid-19 tests were carried out.
Nonetheless, United Judaism Housing Minister Rabbi Litzman warned that his party would quit the coalition government if a full lockdown was imposed over the High Holidays next month, including Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
