Israel’s Danon conducts 40 UN ambassadors around a Hizballah tunnel

Seven helicopters carried scores of visiting UN ambassadors to Israel’s northern border on Sunday to hear a briefing from their Israeli colleague Danny Danon on Hizballah’s cross-border tunnels and the IDF operation for destroying them. He stressed that the tunnels were paid for by Iran. The visiting diplomats earlier met President Reuven Rivlin, followed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who spoke of Hizballah’s virtual takeover of the Lebanese government and its consequential fall to Tehran’s control. “Just as we pre-empted the terror tunnels, so we shall fend off aggression from Lebanon, Syria or Iran itself,” Netanyahu said. “We are not only defending Israel, but our neighbors and world peace.”
