Israel’s envoy to the US steps down, stays at the UN

Gilad Erdan, who was appointed by former PM Binyamin Netanyahu last year as Israel’s joint ambassador to the US and the UN, notified the new prime minister Naftali Bennett that he would make way for a new ambassador to Washington but would continue to represent Israel at the United Nations. The new government in Jerusalem should be represented in Washington by its own candidate, he said.
