Israel’s ex-president Katzav released after five years behind bars
Israel's eighth president Moshe Katzav, who was convicted of rape and other serious sexual offenses, was released from prison on Wednesday after serving five out of the seven years of his sentence. The parole board accepted Katzav's request for his early release, and the state prosecution announced that it will not appeal the decision. Katzav is now barred from leaving his home at night, working with women or giving interviews to the press for the next two years.
