Israel’s first moonshot enters lunar orbit

The Beresheet Thursday performed the maneuver for entering the moon’s orbit and gravity, which called for the moonshot to slow down from a velocity of 8,500 to 7,500 km/h. The craft will now circle the moon in diminishing orbits until its last mission, which is to land on the moon’s surface some time next week. If successful, Beresheet,  Genesis in English, will make space history as the first privately-built spacecraft to complete this mission.
