Israel’s prison service on alert after scattering of Hamas convicts

Israeli prisons holding those convicted of security-related crimes, especially members of Hamas, went on alert on Thursday. The step came after Israel's prison service started removing Hamas terrorists from their cells at night and scattering them to different prisons throughout the country two days ago. The convicts were relocated after the service received intelligence information that Hamas terrorists, especially those jailed at Eshel prison in Beersheba and at Nafha prison near Mitzpe Ramon, had engaged in terror-related activities in their cells. Following the relocation, some of the convicts announced that they were launching a hunger strike.
