Of course, when the people of Lebanon are on the streets denouncing the Hezbollah deep state, an armed conflict with Israel would force the protesters to hide in the basement because of possible air raids.

Forgot to say ” …. The security cabinet should have been called for at earlier stages of the Lebanon unrest. If things get out of hand for Hezbollah in Lebanon, they might attack or at least provoke a response from Israel, to escalate it in a controlled manner to a convenient level, just enough to bring the protests down”

Why would the fact that Lebanon is tearing itself apart not be in Israel’s favor? Hezbollah ie “Party of God” was established by the Iranians in Lebanon for the sole purpose of building an Iranian front on Israel’s northern border to attack Israeli. The people of Lebanon now see that if that happens it means the destruction of Lebanon. That is why the Lebanese are rioting and protesting this arrangement between the government of Lebanon and the Iranians.
