Israel’s security cabinet meets to reassess peace process

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has called a security cabinet special session for Thursday for a reassessment of the peace process with the Palestinians, following the unity pact signed in Gaza Wednesday between the rival Palestinian factions, Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah and the extremist Hamas. which several ministers called a game-changer. After a phone conversation between Secretary of State John Kerry and Netanyahu, State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said: “It’s hard to see how Israel can be expected to sit down and negotiate with a group that denies its right to exist”
