Italy, Greece confirm 7 hostages killed by Nigerian Islamists
The al-Qaeda affiliated group Ansaru announced Saturday it had killed the seven foreign hostages seized Feb. 7 from the Lebanese Setraco construction firm in northern Nigeria, because of Nigerian and British attempts to free them. They showed indistinct photos of the bodies of a Briton, an Italian, a Greek and four Lebanese hostages. The deaths were not confirmed until Sunday by the Italian and Greek foreign ministries.
