Jerusalem bus attack carried out by terrorist who held bomb
The bombing of a Jerusalem bus on Monday evening was carried out by a terrorist who held the device and was critically injured when it blew up. Contrary to reports by the Israel Police and the media during the first couple of hours after the attack, the investigation of the scene as well as the types of wounds suffered by the victims show that the incident was a suicide bombing. The terrorist on bus No. 12 detonated the device after the vehicle stopped on Moshe Baram street. The blast ripped through the bus as well as a passing bus full of passengers that caught fire as well. Sixteen people were injured, including two seriously and two moderately. The rest suffered minor injuries or were traumatized.
Medical sources said nuts and bolts were found in the bodies of some of the wounded, while investigation sources said the improvised device weighing about one kilogram was detonated by a resident of East Jerusalem who was not carrying any identification and was seriously wounded in the lower half of his body.
