Jerusalem downtown in lockdown after terror attack thwarted
A vigilant security guard on Jerusalem’s light train averted a terror attack in downtown Jerusalem Sunday morning. The search of a man who aroused his suspicions found him carrying a bag full of pipe bombs and other explosive devices at the Jaffa St. stop on the corner of King George, two main thoroughfares at the heart of Jerusalem. He was planning to detonate them in the train in a suicide attack. Police called to the scene defused the devices and temporarily cordoned off both streets to vehicles and pedestrians. The train service, which cuts through Palestinian and Jewish suburbs of the capital, was suspended.
