John Hannah is reportedly tagged as next US Syria envoy

Multiple sources including a US official expect John Hannah to be named the next US Syria envoy, as part of the Trump administration’s effort to reinvigorate the UN-led Geneva conference for a political resolution of the Syrian conflict. Hannah served a Vice President Dick Cheney’s national security adviser (2001-2004) and before that was a senior State Department official in both the Bill Clinton and George G.H. Bush administrations.
