Jordan foils major al Qaeda plot
Jordanian state TV reporting from Amman said 11 al Qaeda operatives were under arrests for plotting suicide attacks and car bombings in strategic centers, shopping malls, residential areas, and also assassinations of foreign nationals and Western diplomats. They were armed with weapons imported from Syria, including small arms, mortars and explosives, The TV broadcaster said Jordanian intelligence had kept the terrorists under surveillance and detained them while the plot was still in the planning and preliminary stages.
