Jordan nixes concept of confederation with Palestinian state
A Jordanian government spokeswoman Jumana Ghanimat stated Monday that “a confederation between Jordan and Palestine is not open for discussion. Jordan’s position is firm and clear regarding the Palestinian issue—a two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders,” she said. Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas claimed that the proposal was put before him by Trump peacemakers Jason Greenblatt and Jared Kusher. Talking to an Israeli left-wing delegation on Sunday, Abbas said he would only agree to the confederation concept if Israel was also a member.
