Jordanian fighter pilot discharged for refusing to train with IDF
A Jordanian fighter pilot has been arrested, tried, lowered in rank and discharged without benefits after he refused to participate in a recent joint exercise by the Jordanian and Israeli air forces. After he refused to join the exercise, the pilot, Majdi Smadi, said, "I didn't join the air force to cooperate with Israel, but to fight it." Military and defense-related sources of DEBKAfile report that the cooperation by the two air forces includes joint training in the US, as shown in a recent exercise that included the refueling of a Jordanian warplane by an Israeli tanker aircraft.
