Republicans had to change the voting rules to overcome an unprecedented Democratic filibuster blocking Senate.confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. He was finally confirmed Friday. Gorsuch was tapped by President Donald Trump as his candidate to fill the seat held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia who died in February 2016.
