Justice Minister accuses Palestinians of anti-Semitic falsehoods

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked accused the Palestinian Authority and Hamas of spewing “aggressive, anti-Semitic lies” about Israeli police efforts to keep the peace on Temple Mount, as the cause of the latest round of Palestinian violence in Jerusalem. Shaked plans legislation mandating fines as well as jail for deterring the stone-throwers plaguing the city. Since many offenders are minors, their parents will have to pay up, which will give them an incentive to control their offspring, said the minister. When assessing promotions for judges, she agreed to take into account the Public Security Minister Gilead Erdan’s claim that some judges habitually gave stone-throwers too light sentences.
