Kerry claims ISIS advances have been reversed
US Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday that the Islamic State’s advances in Iraq had been stalled and even reversed and Iraqi and Kurdish peshmerga troops had reclaimed 700 sq. km. of captured territory from ISIS hands. However, DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources report that the Islamists have instead gone after fresh conquests in other parts of Iraq, especially in the Anbar Province in the west. ISIS still controls Iraq’s most important towns, Falujjah, Tikrit and Mosul.
