Kerry travels to Israel Friday to discuss Iran nuclear deal
US Secretary of State John Kerry travels to Israel Friday to discuss the proposed deal between world powers and Iran on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at the Israeli cabinet meeting Sunday that he hopes to persuade Israel’s friends to go for a better deal. Continued pressure could produce a better result by peaceful means, he said. Good friends may not necessarily be of one mind, he said – especially when it comes to issues of crucial relevance o our future.
DEBKAfile: It was not clear whether Kerry would be visiting the prime minister after a deal is finalized between the six powers and Iran at their Geneva conference on Wednesday, or in the course of negotiations.
Netanyahu spoke as French President Francois Hollande was due expected to arrive for a three-day state visit and three days before meeting Russian Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Iran tops the agenda of both events.
