Kerry: US has physical proof of sarin gas attack
US Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday that the US had physical evidence of the use of the chemical nerve agent sarin in a deadly attack in Damascus that killed more than 1,400 people on Aug. 21. He said samples of hair and blood gathered after the attack “tested positive for signatures of sarin.” Kerry said the evidence against the Assad regime was growing stronger all the time and he was confident that Congress would give its approval for the US to launch strikes against Syria after it reconvenes on 9 September. Both parties appeared to be divided, however, and no one was predicting an easy ride for approving an attack.
