Kerry warns shutdown will damage US internationally
Addressing the APEC forum in Indonesia, US Secretary of State John Kerry Saturday said the government shutdown in Washington was “momentary” and US commitments to Asia were undiminished. But if it was prolonged, he warned, the US would be affected internationally. It was already affecting US foreign policy funding including delays in security assistance to Israel, he said. And if it went on, people would begin to question America’s willingness or ability to stay the course. Barack Obama cancelled his Asia trip because of the crisis at home.
