Key US Senate panel backs Obama on strike against Syria

The Senate Foreign Relations committee voted 10 to 7 Wednesday to authorize President Barack Obama to take military action against Syria over its use of chemical weapons on civilians. The resolution calls for limited action lasting no more than 90 days and says no US soldiers would be put on the ground. The measure will now  be referred to the full Senate, following which it goes to the House of Representatives.
