Khamenei demands US action not words for nuke deal
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei demands action and not just words from the Biden administration as a condition for reviving the 2015 nuclear deal.
“The Islamic Republic will not be satisfied this time with words and promises,” he says in a televised speech on Wednesday. “If we see action from the opposite side, we will act too,” he said. President Joe Biden has called on Iran to return to full compliance before the US returns to the 2015 deal, Tehran insists on Washington taking the first step towards re-enegagement by lifting the harsh sanctions imposed by the Trump administration.
The IAEA head is set to visit Tehran ahead of Feb. 21 deadline set by Iran’s parliament for lifting those sanctions – or else Tehran halts international inspections.
