Kim Jong Un’s uncle executed
North Korean state media reports that Kim Jon Un’s uncle, 67, has been executed. Jang Song thaek was not seen in public after November until images were released this month showing him being dragged away from a party meeting by armed guards. He was purged, said official statements, for a string of criminal acts including corruption, womanizing and drug-taking. Earlier his two closest aides were executed in public. Kim’s uncle and former powerful mentor was the most senior official to have been purged by Kim and his execution indicates a major leadership upheaval.
