Knesset beats budget deadline by two hours, wards off 4th election

Just two hours before the Aug 25 deadline for presenting the Knesset, the plenum voted 67 to 37 for the law presented by MK Zvi Hauser to roll the deadline to Dec. 23. The two ruling parties Likud and Kahol Lavan and their leaders PM Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz set aside their basic disagreements for long enough to back the compromise bill and save Israel its fourth superfluous election in 20 months.
