Knesset committee rules all school classes to reopen
A Knesset Committee on Sunday contradicted a government decision limiting school attendance to preschools, 1-4 grades and 11-12 grades up until 1 p.m., and ordered the intermediate grades in between that were excluded from the decision to reopen for classes as well in “green” towns where infection is low. Teachers will receive covid vaccinations as a national priority. Coronavirus director Prof. Nahum Ash commented that a more relaxed lockdown can only serve to prolong its duration. He confirmed that enough vaccines were available to supply the accelerated program decreed by the government.
The highways were jammed across the country as people rushed home before the national closure went into effect at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
