Kremlin critic Navalny flies home to Russia
Alexey Navalny flew home to Russia on Sunday after five months in Germany recovering from a poison attack last summer. The day after the Kremlin critic announced his decision to return to Russia, Moscow’s prison service said he would be arrested on the charge of flouting the terms of a suspended prison sentence for embezzlement in 2014. Navalny said the case against him was trumped up in an attempt silence his voice in protest against the Kremlin. Navalny’s plane was diverted to another Moscow airport at the last minute to avoid the journalists and supporters gathering to greet him.
