Kurdistan government refuses to hand over border gates to Iraq

The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG) Friday rejected two demands from Baghdad in retaliation for its independence referendum: To relinquish control of its border crossings and to cancel the results of the referendum which upheld independence. An Iraqi ban on international flights to and from the KRG took effect Friday, but domestic and military flights were not affected.
