LA airport shooter identified. One dead, 7 injured

The gunman who shut down Los Angeles airport Friday, Nov. 1,  was unofficially identified as Paul Ciancia, a ticketed passenger from Jersey, who had “ranted against the TSA” (Transport Security Authority). He pulled an assault rifle out of a bag and opened fire inside the screening station of international Terminal 3, killed a TSA officer and then shot his way to the food hall before he was engaged and captured by police.
Seven passengers were treated for gunshots. LA officials at a news conference declined to confirm reports that the shooter had been killed. They also refused to give out Information about his identity pending the FBI investigation. The shooting sent thousands of passengers fleeing through the exits of Terminal 3, many out onto the tarmac. The incident was treated as “a multi-patient” event bringing ambulances flocking to the scene, as police searched through every LAX terminal one by one before concluding initially that there was only one gunman.

LAX is the third busiest airport in the USA with 170,000 passengers per day. Friday is the most hectic day of the week.
