Last group of Yemeni Jews secretly airlifted to Israel
In a secret operation run by the Jewish Agency and the US State Department, 17 members of the ancient Yemeni Jewish community landed Israel Monday, the final group of 200 survivors of abuse against their communities in Raydah and Sanaa. The Raydah community arrived with its rabbi and a centuries-old Tora scroll. Some 50 Jews remained in the capital Sanaa in a compound adjacent to the American embassy, after refusing to leave Yemen.
