Last IDF warning to Amona to evacuate quietly
Hundreds of soldiers and police were posted early Wednesday around the Amona outpost northeast of Ramallah waiting tensely for the order to go in and demolish the Jewish outpost, which the Israeli High Court condemned for demolition after nearly a decade, when it was found to have been located on private Palestinian land. The residents, who rejected relocation in alternative re-housing on principle, have been warned to leave quietly of their own accord. Despite the security cordon around the outpost, several hundred demonstrators, including MKs and rabbis, have reached the outpost to protest the evacuation.
Tuesday night, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced the construction of more than 3,000 new housing units in Judea and Samaria – 2,000 of which would be available for sale immediately.
