Lavrov: US air strikes in Syria violate international law
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that any US military strikes against the Syrian government army would complicate attempts to fight Islamic State and other groups. He condemned the US decision to allow air strikes to defend Syrian rebels trained by the CIA in Jordan as “a violation of international law” and “an obstacle to forming a united front to fight terrorism, including Islamic State and al-Nusra Front.” Lavrov spoke at a news conference in Doha with Qatari foreign minister Khalid al-Attiyah, after meeting US Secretary of State John Kerry in the Qatari capital.
