Lebanese president meets with El-Sisi in Cairo
The Lebanese President, former army chief Michael Aoun, arrived in Egypt Monday for his first visit to Cairo in 55 years. He met with President Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi. Aoun was elected to the top post in October. Sunday, he praised Iran’s Lebanese proxy, Hizballah: "As long as the Lebanese army is not strong enough to battle Israel … we feel the need for its existence," Aoun told the Egyptian TV network CBC in reference to Hizballah, adding "It has a complementary role to the Lebanese army."
