Lebanese protest rioters clash with army. Soleimani reported in Beirut

The violent protest demonstrations sweeping Lebanon in the past week spilled over on Wednesday into the south, where protesters clashed with army troops in Nabatea. In Beirut, the protesters moved into most parts of the capital and laid siege to the central bank. The country’s main highways remain blocked. Iran’s Al Qods chief Gen. Qassem Soleimani is rumored to have arrived in Beirut to take a hand in suppressing the unrest. Some sources report that Iran’s National Security Council decided that it was time to intervene in the Lebanese crisis since it was putting Tehran’s interests in Lebanon at high risk.
