Lieberman: Iranian missiles now threaten Europe

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, speaking after a special security cabinet session Monday, commented that Iran’s ballistic missiles now pose a threat to Europe as well. The session was called to deliberate the situation developing on Israel’s northern borders after an Israeli warning to Bashar Asad through Moscow not to let Iran have military bases in Syria fell on deaf ears. DEBKAfile’s military sources reported that Hizballah has begun massing forces in southern Syria.

Lieberman was refuting the contention Sunday by the deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards that Tehran had so far purposely limited the range of its missiles to 2,000 kilometres, but that it would increase the range if Europe turned into a threat.
