Likud and Kahol Lavan rush legislation for unity government
Following the national unity accord sealed by PM Binyamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz on Monday, their parties, Likud and Kahol Lavan, are busy drafting new laws. They include a Rotation Bill, the Acting Prime Minister Bill and an amendment lifting the limit on the number of cabinet ministers. They are working against the clock to get these bills voted into law since the Knesset has less than two weeks left of its mandate. Once legislation is in place, the House may hand the President a list of the 61 MKs who recommend assigning the premiership to Binyamin Netanyahu. The new government can then be sworn in.
