Likud-Labor initiative for early legislation to raise minimum wage

After Israel’s Attorney General barred government steps to raise minimum wage to NIS5,000 in the run-up to the general election, the ruling Likud and opposition Labor leaders decided Thursday to initiate joint legislation before the March 17 poll to raise the minimum wage in the public and private sectors to NIS5,000 (app. $1,250) per month.
