Litzman resigns as Health Minister over Sabbath dispute

Yaacov Litzman tendered his resignation as Minister of Health to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Sunday in protest against infrastructure work performed on the national railway system on the Sabbath Day. His party, the Torah Front (Agudat Israel), has decided not to quit the government coalition. The prime minister is working on new legislation that would enable Litzman to continue running the Health Ministry, for which has won general praise, as a deputy minister, which would relieve him of responsibility for government decisions.
