Maj Gen. Aviv Kochavi named next IDF chief of staff

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Friday approved the defense minister’s choice of Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi as the next IDF chief of staff subject to the cabinet’s endorsement. The prime minister’s response to Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s announcement was delayed for several hours. He then commended  General Kochavi as the member of the General Staff with the most experience.
The general currently serves as Deputy C-of-S.
