Malaysian PM: MH370 flight ended in Indian Ocean, all aboard lost

After 17 agonizing days since the Malaysian airliner disappeared on route to Beijing, Malaysian Prime minister Najib Razak delivered a short statement of profound regret affirming that its flight ended massively off course in a corridor in the southern Indian Ocean. The 239 passengers and crew aboard the flight could not have survived, said Razak. The families have been informed that their wait is tragically over. The data was provided by satellites which picked up “pings” from debris sighted up to 2,000 miles at sea distant from the Australian town of Perth. It indicated that the plane had been in that ocean for almost two and a half weeks. There is still no answer to the question of how missing Boeing 777 came to be where it went down or how it happened. Another news conference is scheduled for Tuesday with more detailed information.
