This was announced by Defense Minister Benny Gantz in the course of the IDF operation against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Friday afternoon. In its first minutes, an air strike penetrated an apartment in a 14-storey Gaza City building and killed Jihad’s northern Gaza commander Teysar Jaabari. Also targeted were15 Jihad operatives, including rocket crews.
The IDF expects the PIJ to respond with prolonged, far-reaching rocket attacks as far as Tel Aviv. Called up for reserve duty are primarily infantry, tank and air defense units. International commercial flights to and from Ben Gurion have been rerouted.
