Mattis: US to continue giving Kurds weapons after Raqqa battle

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Tuesday that Washington would continue to provide weapons to Kurdish-led Syrian forces which are fighting to drive ISIS out of Raqqa, after the battle is over. At present the US is providing air support and arms to those forces. Turkey is likely to be enraged by continued US military arms supplies to the Syrian Kurdish militia, which it regards as an extension of its own Kurdish PKK insurgents.
