May: “Brave” public detained the attacker before police
UK Prime Minister Theresa May said Monday after the attack on the London Mosque: “Extremism, terrorism and hatred take many forms and we condemn and pledge to stamp out extremism and hateful ideology whoever it harms, and that includes Islamophobia.” Speaking after an emergency Cobra session, she said there was only one suspect, the driver of the van who ran into worshippers coming out of the Finsbury Park Mosque, killing one person and injuring eight. May said: “This act of terror was a sickening attempt to destroy freedom of worship.” She also commended the “brave” public which detained the assailant before the police arrived.
