Merkel and Hollande meet Putin in Moscow on Ukraine crisis
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande Friday discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin a new peace plan for resolving the surging Ukraine conflict. They arrived in Moscow after talks with Ukrainian leaders in Kiev. In Brussels, US Vice President Joe Biden said Russia "cannot be allowed to redraw the map of Europe." He said Ukraine is battling for its “very survival” as Russia “continues to escalate the conflict by sending mercenaries and tanks.”
