Mike Pompeo wins Senate panel recommendation as Secretary of State

After days of debating, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee early Tuesday voted along party lines to recommend Mike Pompeo for secretary of State. Minutes before the vote, Republican senator Rand Paul changed his mind about opposing Pompeo over his support for the Iraq war and the US presence in Afghanistan. After receiving assurances from President Donald Trump, he switched to voting in favor of recommendation. Committee Chairman Bob Corker lamented the partisan atmosphere on the committee, which for more than a century has traditionally supported the president’s choice of secretary of state by bipartisan vote. The full senate is set to confirm the nomination of Mike Pompeo, until now CIA director, as the top US diplomat later this week.

Pompeo appears to be a powerful man physically, this is an extremely positive aspect when dealing with world-class thuggery.
