Mild White House reaction to anti-US demos in Iran

Responding to questions about thousands of Iranian shouting “Death to America!” White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday:  “The history of mistrust between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran is deep and it will not be erased overnight.” On nuclear talks, he said the goal is to achieve a verifiable agreement that does not allow to obtain a nuclear weapon. “We’re going to aggressively pursue that goal while the window is open,” he said on the eve of the next round of talks between Iran and the P5+1, “But it won’t remain open indefinitely.”
Monday, two top Iranian leaders said hey were not optimistic about an outcome.
