MK Gideon Saar to quit Likud and form new right-wing party

Gideon Saar, veteran Likud lawmaker and longstanding avowed rival of PM Binyamin Netanyahu, says he is setting up a new right-wing party to run for election next year. He has scheduled a televised announcement for Tuesday prime time. Saar believes he can rope in disaffected Likud and other right-wing MKs and divert votes from the right-wing Yamina party led by Naphtali Bennett, which is challenging Likud in opinion polls.
