Mock Israeli air strikes over Hizballah’s Baalbek strongholds – report

US military sources reported Friday that Israel had recently conducted mock air strikes over Baalbek, the site of Hizballah’s command centers, training facilities and arms depots in the eastern Lebanese Bekaa Valley. The sources reckoned that, “The Israelis want to see what sort of air-defense systems [Hizballah maintains around its stronghold]” after the IDF “changed its operational assessment to reflect the likelihood that Hizbah was in possession of advanced surface-to-air missile systems and had the ability to target Israeli fighter jets.”

Asked to comment on this report, Hizballah officials declined, saying their weapons systems would be revealed when war breaks out.
